Day 13: What is special about the Gas Giants

You have 45 minutes. Tell me how the gas giants and comets differ from the rocky planets in terms of

winds
atmosphere composition
rings vs. magnetosphere
distance from the earth
density
number of moons
orbital path.

Then, explain WHY you think these conditions happened, based on the fact that the solar system all formed at the same time.

Course Purpose: Upon completion of the course, the student will have fundamental understanding of our solar system and its elements, stars and their life history, galaxies, and the origin and history of the universe. The student will be able to apply these concepts both during classroom discussions or in an optional lab setting. sky

10.1.4 Use star charts and catalogues properly

10.2 Unit Two Objectives

At the end of this unit, the student will be able to:

10.2.1 Examine stellar spectra and classify stars according to their spectra

10.2.2 Do detailed observation on the features, mass and period of the Moon

10.2.3 Observe motions and features of other planets in the solar system

10.3 Unit Three Objectives

At the end of this unit, the student will be able to:

10.3.1 Examine evidence that the Sun rotates and determine the rotational period

from sunspots

10.3.2 Make determinations about stars in relation to color magnitude and H-R

diagrams

10.3.3 Study galactic recession in relation to Hubble's velocity-distance law
